Today's Agent Skill: Employee Recognition Message Generator

What It Does

Employee recognition is one of the highest-ROI retention tools a small business has and it costs almost nothing — but most owners intend to recognize their team more often than they actually do. This skill turns your weekly observations into a batch of specific, meaningful recognition messages ready to send in under five minutes.

How It Works

The agent takes brief notes you jot down about each employee's achievements, contributions, or behaviors from the week — just a sentence or two per person — and generates a personalized recognition message for each. It varies the format (team Slack post, one-on-one note, or public announcement), keeps the tone authentic, and makes sure every message references the specific action rather than relying on empty generic praise.

How to Deploy It

Run weekly in Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or Windsurf by pasting a quick bullet list of who did what this week. The output copies directly into Slack, Microsoft Teams, an email, or an employee recognition platform like Bonusly or Motivosity. The entire workflow takes under five minutes per week and costs nothing beyond the agent you already use.

Example: "Maria — stayed late to resolve a payroll error before payday, which prevented delays for all 12 employees"
- Preferred format for each message: Slack post, email, team announcement, or 1-on-1 note
- Optional: company values or culture keywords to reinforce (e.g., "ownership," "customer-first," "teamwork")
- Optional: 2-3 previous recognition messages the manager has sent, for tone-matching

## Steps
1. For each employee entry, identify: the specific action, the outcome or impact, and any company value it naturally demonstrates.
2. Draft a recognition message opening with the specific action — never use generic openers like "I want to take a moment to recognize..."
